Don’t go there too early!

There are places people warn you of, because they are dangerous or ugly. And then there are places, where people warn you of, because they are too good to be true. If you go there too early, you will be spoilt for a lifetime. Well, I went there and have just come back from Raja Ampat .... Please click to read more.

Peace and War in Arcadia: A day in the Mountains in Shan State

I had planned for a 1-day tour in the mountain villages around Hsi Paw. I did not expect to go into an area with an ongoing armed conflict and at the same time one of the most paradisiac places I have ever been. This was the day I fell in love with Myanmar. The people I met during this day would like you to know their story.... Please click to read and see more.

It‘s always one day too early to leave ... Click to read more

And happiness in this quality raises a fundamental question ... Click to read more.

The jungle of my childhood dreams

At the age of eleven it was crystal-clear to me that I wanted to become a researcher in the rainforest. I had a quite pronounced idea how a rainforest would look like, probably inspired by some books I had at that time, and for sure inspired by the Jungle Book. So how does it feel to enter a picture that you may have had on your mind for many years, that you may have seen in your childhood in a book? How does it feel to enter King Louie and Mowgli’s territory? Click to read more...

Sumatra Roadmovie

Eines war klar: Reisen in Sumatra ist nicht einfach und man braucht Zeit und Geduld dafür. Ich war auf eine 18-stündige Busfahrt eingestellt, aber nicht auf das, was statt dessen kam....
